Community
At Sterling, philanthropy and volunteerism are woven into our business and company culture. We believe addressing public concerns and identifying opportunities to make a positive impact within the neighborhoods where we work and live is a top priority. As a company, our commitment to civic involvement is visible in the range of community support activities undertaken by our employees. Hundreds of hours each year are devoted to supporting local programs for children and senior citizens, from education to community awareness.
Galveston County Commissioner Pat Doyle states “In all my years of public service, I have never been more fortunate than to deal with such great public/private partners as Walt Treybig and Sterling Chemicals. They are always ready to step up and assist the community in good times and in bad. It’s a pleasure and refreshing to work with such a great corporate group.”
Galveston County Judge James Yarbrough states “Sterling Chemicals is an outstanding corporate citizen in Galveston County. The company encourages and supports its employees and management to become involved in our communities. At the Chamber of Commerce, United Way or other civic boards and activities, you will find Sterling Chemicals represented.”
Texas City Mayor, Matthew T. Doyle states “As Mayor of Texas City, I have had the pleasure of working with Walt Treybig and the Sterling Chemicals staff since 2000. Sterling Chemicals remains a premier facility in our city’s industrial complex and focuses on safety and manufacturing of petrochemical products that are shipped nationwide. As a corporate sponsor to many community events and charitable organizations, Sterling Chemicals remains committed to helping whenever called upon. Texas City is fortunate to have a strong bond with the Sterling Chemicals family and appreciates their commitment to our citizens and our community.”
